I have old asphalt siding on my home. The brand name is NU-BRICK, does antone know if it contains asbestos?

Identification of asbestos is a fairly easy matter. For under $25 you can have a sample analyzed by polarized light microscopy (PLM) at a local analytical lab. This will tell you the % content and type of asbestos if present. Costs are less if you have time to wait for results. A small sample in a plastic bag or film container is all you need.

If asbestos is present, you have many options. Asphalt materials really are not considered friable (crumbles) in most cases. Being on a residence, it is unregulated by federal regulations and most state regulations. If you find the material contains asbestos, post back with your general location, and any questions you have regarding renovation, removal or disposal. We will try to help.
