We had an electrician come out to check out flickering lights, intermittent outages, etc. When he pulled off the main breaker and the 60 amp one below it, they both broke. He said the bus bars were very damaged and that the panel (an old Zinsco) needed to be replaced.
When we finally got a tech out to do the repairs (same company), he said the 1st tech was in error, that the pitting, etc on the bus bars was completely normal, safe, and posed no fire hazard. He installed a new main breaker and left.
I've done some research since then & understand now that since it's a Zinsco, we should probably replace it anyways, but I'd like to know whether the condition of the bus bars in our panel really is "normal".
Thank you in advance for any thoughts you can share with me.
