Help!!
My house is new.The builder has put caulking in the corners of the drywall--has anyone ever heard of this? Why is it done? He painted over the caulk and now the caulk looks like crackle. What should be done to correct this? The paint is Valspar, American Tradition from ***** . Could this have reacted with the caulk? Or did they paint before the caulk was dry? Thanks

Does every corner have it?
Im sure the builder had a drywall subcontractor come in and do this,I have never seen or heard of this before. You need to contact the builder right away, and have them explain to you why it is there and that you want it fixed.

They painted before the caulking was dry,it was prolly dry to the touch, but wasnt cured all the way yet, then when it dried (shrunk)it pulled the paint apart giving it the crackling effect.Even if it is the flexible kind of caulk it will still shrink back some.
You shouldn't have to fix anything,it's the builders responsibilityto get it corrected.
BUT if you have to do it yourself, sand down 1 corner to kind of even out the cracks,(a pencil or marker in sandpaper helps in corners)then prime I like a high hiding drywall primer such as H irshfields High Build primer orks pretty good for in cracks and such, then you should have some left over paint around.
