I'm painting my bathroom, and want to use either gloss or semigloss. The walls and sils have white semigloss on now. Can I paint over that with semigloss or gloss without futher preparations.

Hello Can,
Good intelligent question here!
>>> Before doing any painting, WASH the walls with a Dirtex/water solution and rinse. Let dry a day. Why??? Soap vapors, sprays, etc. just keep building up in a bath!!
** Because existing S/G is "slick", new paint doesn't get a good grip. Use a high-quality primer to provide a new "grip" layer.
** You still need TWO coats of the new paint however for best color-depth & durability.
** Use top-notch rollers/brushes.
** On your sills, I would lightly sand (220-grit pad), then prime after removing dust.
** If you have to do any hole-filling, do this first, let dry, & sand flush.
** Now, brush a thin coat of primer on repairs; then prime the whole room.
This is a recipe for success!
