My home was built in 1927 and has an odd front door framing. Its as if the door opening was put in place before the walls were raised. I had to take the door and jams apart to get furniture in. The only thing holding the jams in place was the trim, and some nails that were under the subfloor. I now have a rough opening of 37” whats the largest door that will fit here?

Also, does anyone know of a good place to find new windows and doors with the "prarie" or "9 lite" style?

Pella doors are slightly downsized from standard and they can be ordered with any muntin configuration. For higher quality, I think tha tmarvin does custom sizing and configuration. There may be others.

I don't do it but many carpenters install doors this way. Your's is proof that it works
