While moving a friend into her new house, we manually opened the garage door using the pull string, which broke. I replaced the pull string and it now is back where it belongs, but the door won't lift with the electric opener. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas, is there some kind of spring I might have broken or something? any suggestions would be appreciated.

Icacko - hi, if you opened the garage door by pulling on the pull string, then you need to reset that "override" switch. All it takes is to run the garage door opener to the DOOR CLOSED position, then push up on the lever area where the pull string is attached. That should lock it back down so it'll grip the door opener mechanism. There should be easy to follow instructions in the garage door opener manual that hopefully is inside the house somewhere. Or, you should be able to get to the manufacturer's website and download them. I hope this helps some - good luck! Jim D/West Point, VA
