My deck gets super hot in the summer. I need an outdoor rug that stays cool to walk on. What material should my outdoor rug be made of?? The outdoor rug I have gets too hot to walk on! It burns my kids' feet and my pets' paws! It's an outdoor rug I purchased from Lowes. Help!

I don't think rug manufacturers consider this when making "outdoor" rugs. They just label the rug as "outdoor" and let you deal with the burned feet and impressive heat retention that Olefin/Polyproplyene has in full sun. Our outdoor rug holds heat all day and well into the night and we can't wait to get rid of it.

We bought some outdoor carpet from home deopt when we first moved into our house to cover a well weathered deck. We bought a light grey that wasn't too bad as far as getting hot. It only last about a year,(with 2 dogs and several kids), but it was worth using carpet until we could put new boards on the deck.
