I need to replace the roof. An attic covers about 2/3 of the house. The other 1/3 has vaulted ceilings and therefore no attic. The attic has two small, inadequate gable vents.

I would like to install a ridge vent as well as intake vents. Because of the vaulted ceilings, the attic has space for intake vents on only one side. A portion of the attic extends to the other side of the ridge. Normally, intake vents are installed on both sides of the ridge, but in my case it's possible to install them on only one side. My question is whether this will work? Will this provide effective ventilation?

(The amount of NFA I can get with the intake + ridge vent far exceeds the amount calculated by the "divide by 300" rule. The question is whether the *position* of the intake vents on only one side of the attic will result in effective ventilation.)
