In a recent article about water proofing wood, you suggested using lacquer. I have to disagree. I have used lacquer for years as a professional and in my own shop. Lacquer is definitely not water proof. It would be the worst finish to use when wood will be exposed very much moisture. Even furniture that has hot or cold drinks left on it for very long or frequently will develop blushing at first and not long after will begin to fail or turn loose.
