Due to cracked grout and resulting water damage to the entry step to a shower, I have had to remove and rebuild the step. I have installed the new wood step base and covered it with Blue Sheetrock. I wanted to confirm whether or not I can install the tile on the blue sheetrock after caulking all the seams or seal the sheetrock first and caulk or do I need to use another type of backing board that is better suited for this environment? (It appeared that white sheetrock was used on the original step and I am slightly confused with the different information I have been told at DIY stores and have found while searching the web on the proper replacement materials to use.)

Thank you in advance for the guidance.
