Hi
I have a motion detector light. The problem is my cats keep setting it off. Can I buy just a new sensor that doesn't detect small animals and install it to the pre-exsisting light fixture. And if so, would it be hard to install?

Your question is difficult to answer. In some units you can replace the sensor, in some not. In some units you can adjust the sensitivity and range, in some not.
In some units you can adjust the "height" of the sensor. If the cats are at ground level and you want to detect only people, you might be able to remove the lens of the sensor and insert a piece of black electrical tape along the bottom edge to prevent sensing small animals at ground level, up close.
