Hello, I have painted my walls a light blue with the trim around the windows and fireplace left white. I have purchased white thick cotton duck tab top panels for the window. I have a lot of wrought iron items in the living space and I thought it would look nice to buy black wrought iron decorative rods for the curtains. Then my sister said that you are never supposed to put black and blue together. Is this a decorative no-no? Or do you think it will look good? I could always opt for silver or a lighter wrought iron, but I thought I would try to match it to the table and chairs that are in the same area. Thanks!

Well, it looks good in my livingroom .

To be quite honestI had doubts too, my base colors are Silver, Cream and Light Blue. My accents such as lamps, frames, tables and the small stuff like vases, candle holders, ashtrays etc. are all a mixture of Pewter, Silver and Wrought Iron. Surprisingly, the mixture looks really good and the colors blend well. However, MY walls are a light cream and the carpet various shades of blue.

Well good luck

you can add black but its where you want to make a statement(s)-if you use the traditional colors of cream/white, blue, silver then bringing black in will make those black pieces stand out more, because of the dark aginst/with so many light colors.
