We just moved into a house with a nice deck. It looks like it was treated with a solid color stain 5+ years ago.

I want to protect it from any further cracking damage.

Questions: Should I put another solid color stain on top? How can I really provide long-term protection from water and sun?

Thanks in advance!

Steve

Hi Steve-

We recommend annually or biannually applying a topical water repellant or stain with water repellant properties to your deck. It's not a bad idea to clean your deck first; either by pressure washing, or by using a deck brightening product.
