I'm installing an exhaust fan in a bathroom. The ducting (rigid) will be run in the attic and will terminate at a wall vent on an exterior wall. Living in a cold climate I understand its important to insulate the duct. What is the best and easiest way to insulate the duct?

Just wrap it with fiberglass insulation, if you don't, the warm humid air will condense in the vent pipe and drip back into the fan.

Hi Paul in Toronto,

ABSOLUTELY wrap it in insulation. Just go to a Home Depot or Lowe's or a Plumbing Supply House and ask for the insulation for your purpose.

My best to ya and hope this helps.

What R-value insulation should I use to wrap around the duct?

Hi PaulinToronto,

Good question. I just buy the duct insulation at the Home Center. Check there and they'll get you the right stuff. You don't use R-30 or anything like that!

My best to ya and hope this helps.
