I had an old Hampton Bay ceiling fan with a light kit...replaced it with a newer better looking model...that all went well BUT when the old fan was down, awaiting my installation of it into a different room one of the wires "came loose"...of course no one knows how or why it happened, the household members have clammed up completely.
Anyway I have the white and black wires still attached but the black and white one is completey disconnected...of course when I reinstalled it the Light works perfectly but the fan won't turn on at all...where do I reconnect the black and white ON THE FAN itself?
Any ideas? If so I can save myself about $150 dollars...Thanks - Dan

You can try to repair it by opening it up (of course turn off the power and remove the fan). Inside the bottom there are 2 switches (with pull chains on them) one is for the light, and the other for the fan. There should be a wire from the switch to the power supply up through the fan. If the wire in question came loose off the switch its self you might have to replace the switch. They are available at most lighting stores. Mr. Electric
