We just had the kitchen light fixture fall from the ceiling. It is hanging by one bolt. How do you know what breaker to shut off to cut the wires and remove the other bolt.Nothing else in the kitchen is controlled by the same light switch that we know of.
1. IF the light is on or able to be turned on, do so and start turning breakers off. When the light goes out, you got the right circuit.
2. If the light does not go on at all, either the breaker is tripped or the bulb is burned out, or the wires pulled out of the wire nut connectors.
3. Shut the main off. Then there is no power to anything in the house. Get someone to hold a flashlight, remake the connections, install new bolt.
If you have a voltage checker use it in #1 & #2.
