Hi,

I just removed the outlet cover for a plug in my apartment ( I just wanted to check the plug, because the circuit got tripped by the microwave). Everything seemed fine, but I found that the metal box was stuffed with pink fiberglass insulation. I've never seen that before?? Wouldn't that be dangerous if the wire were to ever arc?

It is not approved.

But I doubt that it is any real hazard.

It won't burn. It might increase the heating of the wire and insulation.

But the electrical insulation is approved to be burried in thermal insulation.

A better option is to use the foam covers to seal receptacles and switches.
