I think you mean a 3-way stitch; that is, 2 switches, either of which will turn one light (or set of lights) on or off. (A 2-way switch would just be a standard single-pole on-off switch, but I've never heard them called that.)

It depends on how you run your cables. There are at least eight different ways to do it. The method depends on where the power comes in(s1,s2,light), where the fixture connects(s1,s2, between s2 and s2).
This link has some wiring drawings for you. No one method is better than the other. Which ever one fits the layout of the room to minimize wire used will work.
