siding that buckles
Having a problem with new vinyl siding that is buckling. Contractor does not know what the problem is with this siding. It is a dark color Alcoa siding that looks like cedar. What did the contractor do wrong when installing this?
It was probably installed incorrectly. The nails must be 'loose' (not hammered down tight) so that the siding can expand & contract with temperature changes. Try moving several pieces sideways by hand. Should have some movement. Another possibility is that it was cut improperly and the expansion areas on the ends were trimmed off?
