I have just about the strangest bathtub setup. It is actually an old clawfoot tub with added walls built by the previous occupant. The tiles have been repaired too many times. I do not want to tear down and replace the walls and cannot do without the walls. I would like to use something like Corian to create my own surround (since no pre-fab kit will work). Does anyone know a material that is less expensive but just as effective? It must be fairly easy to cut and shape and be about 1/4" thick. Thanks.

That sounds like what we used to call plastic surfaced masonite.actually, I can't recall the name of the product...Melomane, Melomite? cultured marble would surely be cheaper than Corian, but harder to work with than masonite Check your building center for the masonite.
