I have a rental house that I have taken several windows out and installed 36" doors to replace the pre-existing 30" doors. While cutting the old asbestos siding, it did not fair too well. Also I need to cover the areas that the removed windows came out of. Is there a comparable siding available to match the thickness of the asbestos siding so I don't have to re-side the whole house to make it look good?

- Is there siding to replace missing pieces of asbestos siding?
There are two companies that make a cement siding comparable to the old asbestos, tho they might be noticeably different in immediate proximity.
I think GAF and Certanteed are the manufactrurers.
How did you CUT the siding? I am hoping you didn't try a method that makes dust! That is the way it becomes friable and dangerous to you and your family. The proper method is to remove the shingle piece, dampen it with mist, and then use a siding cutter made for asbestos. It will fracture the piece with minimal dust. Then re-instal the piece of siding.
Excellence is its own reward!
