I recently bought a Cape Cod home built in 1948. I am interested in remodeling the .5 story part of it. I am wondering if anyone knows where I can find plans similar to the layout of my own home so I can get some ideas. The problem, in my opinion, is that the stairway going upstairs is on the east side of the house, which means the 2 bedrooms I want up there will have to be walk-through. The chimney, sewer pipes and breather pipe make it difficult to design it any other way. Just thought someone knows where I could find some other ideas! Thanks!

If the design preferance is not how you would like it, MODIFY it. Add a seperate vent stack thru the roof to pick up your new plumbing fixtures. A "B" vent (double walled) flue pipe for venting is acceptable in most locales for passing thru floors, walls and ceilings.
