in my yard...any ideas? I live in SC. I mowed the lawn yesterday and couldn't get over how many holes there are now. We have had alot of rain this year. What do I have living in my yard? It looks like swiss cheese across my yard. When I first pointed them out, my husband thought maybe it was from roots rotting from a previously removed tree. All the holes are all same...nickel sized round holes.

Are you sure you didn't have your lawn aerated? They have a machine that rolls over the lawn and plugs hundreds of holes in the soil to let the soil breath. And the plugs are usually about "nickel-size".
If you have random "plugs" of soil in your yard, they look like dirt corks. Then your lawn has been aerated.
