I would like to plant a fast-growing shade tree in our lawn to help protect against the merciless sun. While at another mobile home, I planted a sapling which in 4 or 5 years towered above the roof of the trailer. I don't know what the name of the tree was but it had very large leaves and large "pods". I may go over there and take a look at that tree again so I might be able to describe it better. In any case, what are the recommended fastest growing shade trees for north Texas (Ft. Worth area)?

Peace

Question: Tree for Shade.

I planted a purple plum tree, was so suprized to see the growth and the smaller leaves along with the color was great. Infact I bought another yesterday at Home Depot for $18.95. Usually they are about $44.95. About 8-9 foot tall. Fast growing. Other one is 18-20' and about that wide. Full.
