can anyone tell me whether any particular product can safely remove silicone caulking from a brass showerhead without harming the brass? my contractor was sloppy and has now disappeared and won't return our calls, and left gobs of silicone caulking all over the brass showerhead. Please help me figure out how to get it off! Thanks.

There are caulk removers that will get get silcone, but I don't what they will do to the brass.

Goof Off will "attack" silcone. That is makes it soft and muching. I suspect that is what the removers do also.

It is still a lot of work rubing and scraping. Use a plastic tool to keep from scratching.

However a lot of brass has a lacguer coating to keep them from tarnishing and it might also remove that.

So it means polishing the brass more often.
