Need some advice/info regarding adding an extension in basement. There is a connecting device (someone said it was a phone block) to which the phone line from the outside is connected. This also holds the lines for the rest of the house. I need to know what type of cable is required for a basement extension and how to connect it to the "phone block". Any info greatly appreciated!

While not nessecary CAT 3 4 conductor cable is best and reasonably cheap.

And by connecting device do you mean a punch down block.

There are two styles 66 and 110. You will need a punch down tool and there are different ones for each. But some are universal.

The home horror stores have the cable and tools.

Thanks for the info and now that you have mentioned it I seem to recall someone else calling it a punch down block. Tahnx again!
