The Method of backfilling We used for our home is the following and we had great success with it even five years later.

I suggest that You place a foot (12) of 3/8 inch up the outside of the foundation walls, then place a filter fabric material over the aggregate, then backfill with sand to within eight (8) inches of final grade and then top off the sand with topsoil or a suitable soil to promote the growth of grass.

The Filter fabric will keep the sand out of the aggregate (stone). The sand will relieve any hydrostatic pressure (water) from building up against the foundation walls.

Good Luck with Your New Home
