I had my entire trex deck replaced in 2007 due to "surface flaking". After negotiating with Trex, I received a settlement that included replacement materials and FULL labor/material cost reimbursement. I was pleased at the time that Trex stood by their product and paid for the entire replacement cost for over 4000 linear feet of Trex decking. Now I am experiencing the same problem again. Many boards are starting to flake, after only 3 years from date of installation. I submitted another claim with Trex only to find out that the class action settlement provides for replacement materials (Trex only, not screws, track etc) and $.18 per linear foot for labor and screws etc. What a joke, in 2007 Trex was settling claims for FULL labor and material costs (over $30,000.00 in my situation) and after the class action suit they only have to pony up $.18 a linear foot. Trex knew about the faulty material and shipped it anyway. The class action suit screwed the consumer and paid the lawyers. Now I will have to foot the bill to replace 4000 linear feet of Trex decking for under $800.00. Never buy trex products, always opt out of class action lawsuits and complain to Trex and the class action plantiff's attorneys that $.18 a foot does not provide relief for Trex negligence in shipping a known defective product.

I followed exactly the same program. We first installed nearly 2500 feet of Winchester Grey in 2003. By 2006 it was coming apart over 10% of the surface plus staining was bad and had sub surface mod spots. Trex replaced it all plus a modest labor fee or about $6k. Three to four years later, it is doing the same thing. I am hugely disappointed in this product. The major hassle it takes to replace is unacceptable. We were told of the Nevada plant problems that in 06 were supposedly corrected. I am hesitant to replace again. If they only offer $.18, this would be a total joke. The screws cost more.

Has anyone been successful in getting Trex to stand up and pay for install in the 2010 time frame?
