Bvplumbing
I have been experiencing major reductions in water flow in my kitchen and Bathroom Sinks using hot or cold, in addition to the Hot water to the Washing machine. It was intermittent before, slow for a couple days and then fine, in the kitchen one day and the bathroom the next. No other plumbing seems to be affected (Bath, toilet, dishwasher, etc.)

My mother-in law caught part of a story on Good morning america about problems with Dip tubes in newer water heaters causing similar problems.

Does this sound familiar ? Any ideas ?

Yes there are problems with several water heater dip tubes manufactured over the last 15-20 years. They're still trying to figure out how widespread the problem is. If you want to figure out if this is your problem simply remove the screen in the faucet to see if there are small pieces of plastic there causing a blockage. Also you should be able to contact the water heater manufacturer to see if your's is one with the faulty dip tubes. Good luck.
