I am in the final stages of finishing my basement and I always come here if I need an answer because everyone is so helpful.
I stubbed out my waterlines for the toilet and sink.I intended to solder on the shut-offs but I ran across some that have compression fittings for the inlet side. I can't believe that it could be this simple to install the shut-offs.
So,is it true that I can install these on 1/2" copper and not have to do any soldering?

I recently installed a basement bath. I used the compression type fittings. I had trouble getting a leak tight fit. I believe most experienced plumblers would prefer using the solder type.
most plumbers use compression....you must put sealant on the ferrell, either pipe dope or teflon. erik
I live in a brand new house and they were sweated on. I hired out the plumbing, and they did good. I asked a question on here about sweating on a brass colored valve and if the sweating heat tarnishes the bright brass, answer was no.
Compression will work, but is subject to leaking, once its sweated properly they don't leak.
