I have an old Youngstown Kitchen sink. The faucet has started to leak and the water runs down the inside of the cabinet. How can I replace the faucet? Can I use any faucet or do I need to buy a certain kind and size. Can this type of sink be repaired? I must get this repaired as soon as possible as the leaking water is getting mold under my sink.

Thank You,

Carolin:

This faucet can be repaired. Typically when it begins to leak there are a number of causes. Handle packing nuts get old and can be replaced with teflon packing, which can be purchased at one of the big warehouse stores. Brass seats inside the faucet can be replaced or reground. Finally, the washers on the end of the stems can be replaced. These old faucets have all replaceable parts and generally nothing goes wrong with the body. If you are stuck on keeping this faucet, there a number of companies online that keep parts. www.historichouseparts.com
