I'm in the process of remodeling master bath (MB) on second floor of 40 yr old colonial. There is a second bath (SB) (back to back separated by wall) on the same level. I notice that when the faucets are turned on in sink of SB water tends to back up in MB. Right now I have sink in MB removed and placed a bucket under p-trap. Water overflows the trap when SB sink is used. I have tried snaking through drain plug in trap in MB but problem still exists. Is this water simply seeking "own level" or do I have an issue here that needs more attention. Your advice is greatly appreciated before I proceed with installation of new vanity/sink in MB. It is basically useless snaking through a fixture trap CO (clean out)
Suppose you did manage to catch a stoppage full of hair how is one supposed to remove it through a 3/4" opening if even that large?
Just because you put a snake through a fixture trap does not mean the wire knows where to go, It may well go up a vent line or to the other side of the back to back fitting.
When I am called to do a basin stoppage especially back to back I remove the trap and look into the 11/2" line with flash light use a drop head snake and actually look to see if the snake is indeed going down the waste line.
DO NOT use any chemicals as most are useless and can also destroy older piping.
