hello all pipe lovers!
i am planning to install my shower stall and i was wondering if it is a requirement or not to install a p-trap under the shower stall...
i figured it is useless as there is no way to go under and undo the plug... so my second question is... is it going to smell stalled water after a while?
finally... what i'd like to achieve would be this...
shower----------------main drain
/
toilet ----/
but by doing so... unpleasant odors might come through the shower drain... so may be some kind of p-trap before the Y could be used...
why am i doing this? well... the water from the shower will rince the toilet pipe and help everything go where it should... or am i totaly in the left fiedl here?
thanks in advance!

Considering the P trap is 2" diameter it is quite easy to snake(rod) even with a 3/8 wire.
The trap seal will prevent sewer fumes from entering the stall as long as the trap has a proper vent.
Same with an 11/2 trap used for a bath tub where access below is sometimes not practible like high priced Condo's or apartment houses.
Floor drains inside the structure normallly have a trap directly under the inlet. Yard and area and storm line drains have the trap indoors to protect them from frost.

The statements speak for themselves, including the most important one, consult (pay) for a qualified, licensed master plumber to inspect and re-design your plumbing system to accomodate these new fixtures.
i'm asking a question in a forum... say out of no where...
err... could someone tell me how to change a wheel on my car...
answer: pay a mechanic to tell you how to do it...
oh... another one... in another forum
could someone please tell me how to turn on the lights in my bedroom...
answer... ask a master electrician to give you a thourough course in 50 jours on how to turn on the switch and in bonus ask that person on how to turn it off...
listen up mistress fancy pants... why don't you simply keep your 5th grader comments for yourself and strut out of my thread?
