wiring detached garage

on the sub panel in the detached garage, the grounds are supposed to be isolated from the nuetrals.
Inside the main box in the house, the neutrals and the grounds are not separated.
So, my question is, are you supposed to isolate the ground in the main box that feeds out to the garage subpanel or is it ok to hook it up with the rest of the grounds/neutrals?

I believe that ground and neutral can be together (common) at building entrance - that means the main box - but should be separated after that.
So, if I understand your question; yes you can tie the ground and neutral wires from the subpanel to the common bus in the main box, but they should be 2 separate wires.

Hi,

I just installed a subpanel in my detached garage. I buried in Sch.40 conduit 4 thwn #6 wires. I buried a ground rod at the garage and brought that into the subpanel. I ran this ground wire to the ground bar on the panel. The ground bar on the panel remained isolated from the neutral bar. Yes, my ground and neutrals are bonded in the main panel. So, in my case (and according to my local inspector) the ground and neutrals remain unbonded or isolated.
