We will be building a new custom home early next year. We are leaning toward the fiber/cement siding, but we are wondering if there are any new wonderful products on the market? Someone told me they thought there was a new wood fiber/plastic resin siding? Also, are there any sites that compare siding? Thanks for your help.

I would go with the fibre/cement siding as it is stable, does not rot and holds paint great. Just be sure that when the siding is painted that they apply 2 coats and best of all it should be 1 coat of exterior acrylic primer and 1 coat of exterior acrylic house paint in either a satin or semi-gloss finish.

Enjoy your new home.

Better yet, get it pre-primed and do not apply it when wet. The primer will keep water from soaking into the product but best to be safe. While water will not hurt the product, it does affect the paint if applied when some water is in it.
