Is is necessary to use an underlayment, such as plywood, over the concrete in order to put down a vinyl covering? thanks in advance....

As long as the concrete is moisture free there should be no problem. I would advise using the concrete primer that is made for this purpose before installing the vinyl.

hi i am buying a new house and it will have vinyl on the kitchen and the foyer floor, also in the bathrooms.i am wondering what would the care be for these floors to make them last as long as possible?and also what would the life be for the floors.

Nikkie,

Keep the floors as clean as possible and use only a damp mop or a very mild cleaning solution. Abrasion is what shortens the lifespan of these floors. I have an aunt who has had a vinyl floor in her kitchen for about 15 years and it still looks brand new. Of course she is a nut on cleaning.
