We will be putting in a laminate floor in our living/dining rooms. I am confused because there are so many brands to choose from. Then of course there are so many within the brand - which ones are durable yet affordable? Is a "wear rating" important? Also, I'm not crazy about what I have seen at Home Depot & ***** (they look cheap). Is there a place on the net that is good? Thank you for the help!

- laminate flooring - which one?
Wear ratings are invented mostly by the big box stores. If you want good durability by a great company, be prepared to pay (Wilsonart, Pergo Select, Allock, Quickstep)
If you want to order thru the net, be carefull and make sure your not in an ultra hurry.

every floor store has some kind of laminate. look around at as many brands as possible to fine one you like.dont buy the cheep ones (less than $2.00 ) but i must add if you did not like what you have seen so far, maybe you should concider a hardwood floor...it may take the "real thing" to meet your needs......good luck
