I'm installing some ceramic tile in the ceiling, but they stick for 2 mins and fall off. What is the best epoxy mixture to use?

I see the guy that did my basement bathroom ceiling mix a tube of clear and a tube of yellow thing together. He apply a small about of the mixture to the back of the tiles and in seconds it drys. Those tiles he put in the ceiling was about 1/4" thick too.I try to contact him to ask him what he uses but I can't.
