Am having a bathroom & shower redone with ceramic tile. One contractor sends me to a tile showroom, the other says I can buy ceramic tile at a big box store with no problems, if I don't get the really thin stuff.
Assuming I find one I like at HD or Loz, will this work out just as well as if I buy from a fancy showroom?

A fancy showroom will get you great pricing and a better selection. The big box stores have good pricing on their stock stuff, but they usually have the thinner variety.
Maybe o.k. for the counters, but forget the floors.
Go to a tile store and then home depot, see the difference if you have the time.
If you want a better selection, with higher grade tiles, forget the big box stores.
Who will install it?

the plain facts are big box stores like home depot sell for less.they may not have the selection, but what they do have costs less than a full service tile shop.home depot carrys many major brans like daltile and ceramica ect,so.....check out your tile store and the depot,if you find one you like at the home depot you will save money... good luck
