Looking down from your room (the term “room” is used loosely; there’s a floor and a roof, and parts of walls, but mostly there’s tree) you’ll see a lush canopy of green, and possibly an emu, some pigs, goats, parrots, tortoises, and other animals—because it’s a working farm. This means that you’ll likely have access to fresh eggs, honey, and vegetables. A shared kitchen and bathroom are downstairs, along with a shared outdoor hot-water shower.
The goal of the hosts is to provide a sustainable oasis in the middle of a city, where it’s unexpected, but proof that a bit of paradise can exist close to the convenience of city life. At night, you may hear the sound of animals talking to one another commingled with the horn of a nearby train. Guests can head off to the attractions in Miami Beach for the day, then play with and feed the animals when they return. Sailboats, kayaks, and bicycles are available for rental.
One important caveat: This room is in a tree. Children are not permitted, as the height of the room would cause an accidental tumble to turn into a tragedy.
