We're going to build a deck this summer and are learning about different composite decking - we want to have a maintenance-free deck. We're narrowing down the field, but can't find a lot of information regarding GAF vs. EverGrain.

Anyone know if these are good products?

Have you used them?

Any other recommendations are appreciated. We're ruled out Trex and Timbertech due to fading/mold/mildew problems. What about AZEK or Fiberon?

Thanks!
Mike

No info on the two but we used choicedek (from Lowe's) on our front patio/steps. You're going to have fading with any product and I think the fact that they've introduced stains for composite decking means that the industry has finally realized it.

The steps we built two years before tackling the rest of the porch. The color difference is very very slight so even with full sunlight most of the day, it didn't fade much at all. We were happy with it.

I also bought from Lowe's. We rebuild our deck last summer. Actually we expanded it and we had to do some rock drilling so it was a bit more complicated, but we managed pretty well in the end. But to answer your question, I would definitely pick Ever Grain.

EverGrain. Better even for flat roofing. EverGrain decking is lower maintenance than traditional wood because it doesn't require painting and staining, and it resists rotting, insects and splintering. EverGrain decking only requires cleaning twice a year to keep it looking its best.

Instead of this consider Fresh Paint Inc and use shims to create a flat surface. When setting your ledger you need to consider your decking material height/thickness. If you desire your deck to be level with an adjacent floor, your deck should be directly below the door jam of that room when finished.
