I am having a problem with water in my basement. I am attached on both sides, my neighbor's yard drain cloggs and I seem to get water only when this happens, the water is coming in thru my stairs. I seem to only happen when the drain clogs, any suggestions on how to fix this problem if they don't fix their pipe, are there things that I can put into my dirt to seal the basement or maybe to fix her pipe.

Each individual yard drain is seperate, and hers should not be draining into yours. However the clog mat be diverting all the water into yours. This type of drain is commonly called a rain leader cesspool. Meaning the gutter takes the rain water off the roof and ties into a cast-iron "leader" with an area drain at the bottom to drain away surface water. If your neighbors is clogged and your rain leader combo is taking the drainage,,,,,,,,,,REPORT IT TO THE LOCAL AUTHORITY!!!!!!.The neighborly thing to do 1st is ask her to have it snaked out by a drain cleaner company or plumber. If she fails with your compliance, you have no choice but to call in the inspectors. Also check for cracks in the exterior and interior walls. Who know's? a possible broken or cracked main house drain may also be infiltrating into your basement. Please post back and let me know if the advice given was helpful and how the problem was resolved. Many posters here look for specific posts, as they may also be experiencing similar problems.
