Hi All -- I am trying to replace and add locks on my steel double entry doors. Before I get started and get to a point where I can't fix what I've done, I wanted to seek advice. RIght now, there is a single knob lock on only the active entry door. I want to replace that knob with a handleset (Schlage) that has a deabolt encorporated, and I want to add a dummy handset on the fixed entry door (which has no harware on it at all. Where my question comes in is that on a single entry door, the deadbolt would normally go into a recessed piece on the door jamb (with 3" security screws). On these steel double entry doors, the deadbolt must go into the other hollow core steel door frame. I am a fair sophisicated DIY'er -- any warnings or tips before I get started?? thanks for any advice.

In my opinion, invest in doors from Dako Windows company.
