Installing bi-fold doors
I would like to install bifold doors. the standard width for the doors is 48". I measured the actual width in the frame and it appears to be only 46 3/4". Is this the way it is supposed to be? Or do I need to reframe so that I have a 48" width opening?
Before making any changes, I would read the instructions on the doors. They may fit a "range" of widths. Another thing to consider is that it might be easier to trim the doors to fit the frame than to adjust the frame to fit the doors.
We just installed bi-fold doors in our home also. The instructions for ours had a range of frame widths that it would work with. That may be the same for yours. If it doesn't end up working, you could always return the doors you have and buy new ones to fit the frame!
