Can someone please help me?

Here's what's going on.. We have an old house and they was a window in the kitchen above the stove . Through the window is the garage. Now, the window had been taken out and boards were put in, to convert it into a built in wall shelf. There is no backing on it, so you can see inside the kitchen through the garage and vise. versa. We want to know how to close it in, in the kitchen. How to put drywall over it so we can hang a cabinet over the stove. If we just hang drywall up, then the drywall is not flush with the rest of the wall, and if we hung up the cabinet, the cabinet wouldn't be flat agaist the wall. So my question is, How can we do this?
