Our house has many of its original 1908 single-pane windows. 2 of them have a stubborn cloudy/foggy film on the exterior. Is there anything that will remove this fogginess?

A hammer and a new piece of modern float glass will do wonders for it. :-)

Just kidding..... (sort of). The glass may be etched because of long term exposure to natural and man-made pollutants. If so, my first suggestion would be a realistic answer.

First, you may want to try something like CLR. That will take off many mineral deposits and may be your answer to shiny new looking glass. Good luck.
