Not only can I report that it works very well, but that I was raised on just such a floor and it outlasted the subfloor and joists, which rotted out in the damp Il. climate.

Since then, I have laid 3 such floors, all doing very well indeed, ranging in ages from a week to 20 years.

Do not try to used nontempered Masonite, however, or fail to varnish or paint it, because a bit of water on bare, non-tempered Masonite will make it swell and distort until it dries.
