So the old ball rod in the bathroom sink finally corroded away to just a tiny tip, causing the pop-up drain to fall in. I bought a universal ball-rod replacement but as a result, the pop-up barely goes up when opening it, which made it useless. No big deal, I thought, and bought a new pop-up with two holes and now it either doesn't close at all or doesn't open up enough. Argh! This little thing is starting to become a real thorn in my side.

I would much rather not resort to buying an entire new pop-up drain assembly just so it opens and closes properly. Suggestions/solutions?
