model# is 82872100, Serial# is 09510728. The timer moves along just fine making the clicking sound as it goes around, it's stopping at the Rinse/Spin cycle. All it does is make a buzzing noise almost like the motor is running but can't go any where. It stops then goes again until it finally gets to the done/off but there is still water in the tank.
My 70 series Kenmore washer also will not advance. My machine model # is 110.82370800. The washer seems to working on all functions except I need to manually advance the timer knob or it will stay the same place and runs forever. How to I determine if I need a lid switch or a timer.

My 70 series won't drain or spin but timer goes until cycle is complete, but when I open the washer its full of water. It appears to attempt to spin but water won't drain.

Thanks for the advice on the lid switch. Simple, inexpensive fix that saved me from giving up on a 14-yr-old washer.
