My Kenmore series 70 gas dryer will not heat. Also the dryer will not shut off, the timer does not move.

Could both of these problems be related?

thanks

That *may* be a possibility but without knowing which *exact* Kenmore 70 Series dryer you have, we couldn't say. If you post the dryer's complete model number, we'll look up to see how it was designed.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag on your appliances at the following link:

** the timer does not move. **

Does that occur on a timed cycle as well as a 'auto' or 'permanent press' setting or just the latter?

Does that mean you never tried it on a regular timed setting? Can you?

If the timer (see the following link) does not move *on any setting*, the timer may be defective. Basically, if the timer's motor is getting power but the timer is not moving, the timer is likely defective and needs to be replaced.

For the no heat problem, we'll need to know if the burner and its ignitor is going anything at all.

Not working at all could be caused by an open thermal fuse (depending on how your model is wired), an open thermostat (there are 2 on your model), an open timer contact, a bad motor switch, an open ignitor on the burner, a burnt wire and maybe some others.

If the burner is doing something, we'll need an *accurate* description of *exactly* what is occurring with it.

JFYI
